FROM THE DURANGO DOWNTOWN AREA, TRAVEL NORTH ON HIGHWAY 550 (CAMINO DEL RIO / MAIN STREET)  FOR ABOUT 3 MILES, THEN (AT THE  HAMPTON INN) VEER RIGHT ON  ANIMAS VIEW DRIVE FOR 1 MILE, STILL TRAVELING NORTH. UNITED  CAMPGROUND WILL BE ON YOUR  RIGHT.

United Campground is located near the Animas River in Dorango, Colorado.  The park has 100 RV sites and 90 tent sites.  The tent camping here is exceptional with green grass fields and large shade trees(See our photos section).  Camp roads and parking pads are all gravel and in good shape.  Most spots have full hookups and large shade trees.  Restrooms with showers are all clean and well maintained.  There is a large laundry room and dump station.  Its kind of a fun spot, the Silverton Train passes the campground twice a day and campers turn-out to wave at the train.  The train station is located just 4 miles to the South of the campground.  The park has a pool and small campground store.  Cellular service at the campground is limited but available.  The park has free WiFi.  Downtown Durango, located nearby, is a great spot for lunch, dinner and shops.
