Comment

Seawall Campground, Acadia National Park has 220 group, tent, and RV sites.  The campground can accommodate RV's up to 35 feet however, access roads and campground roads are sometimes narrow.  The campground has restrooms but, no showers.  Camp roads are paved and camp sites are crushed rock.  Restrooms and drinking water is available.  The campground is even more remote than Blackwoods Campground with no services in the area.  The ocean and rugged coastline is just a short walk from the campground across Seawall highway.  All camp spots have shade trees.  Pets are allowed but, must be on a leash.  The campground also has a limited number of group sites available.  Southwest harbor is the closest town with amenities.

The Island Hopper shuttle service services the campground and most campgrounds and locations on Mount Desert.  It's a free service with the park entrance fee.  The bus goes to Bar Harbor and all points in between.  Bar Harbor is a great place to spend the day with all the restaurants and shops.

Cadillac Mountain is also in the area of the campground.  Make sure you take the ride to the top of the mountain for some great views and pictures.

Acadia National Park has an extensive network of carriage trails.  Because these trails are so long and extensive, they are best traveled by bicycle or by wagon.  The horse drawn wagon can be hired at the Acadia Stables.

Southwest Harbor is nearby and a great place to visit for lunch or dinner.  It's not as large a town as Bar Harbor with only one Main Street through town but, still a fun place.

Biking or driving, make sure that you travel on the Park Loop Road.  It's one way in many locations but the views of the rugged Maine coast are fantastic.

FIREWOOD WARNING:  The National Park is requesting that you leave your firewood at home.  Firewood is available at each campground.  The park is concerned about non-native insects invading the park.  Gathering fire wood in the park is prohibited.

Reservations can be made at Reserve America, www.recreation.gov, or by calling (877) 444-6777.  The camp is usually completely full during the summer months.  Make reservations early.   Nearby campgrounds can be found near the bottom of this page should the National Campgrouds be full.
