Description
California, San Gorgonio Campground, San Bernardo National Forest. The campground is located in a remote area.
Directions:
There are a few ways to get to the campground. From Big Bear City go south on Highway-38 for approximately 20 miles. The campgrounds entrance will be on the right side.
From the town of Mentone go east on Highway-38. After approximately 20 miles the campground entrance will be on the left side. For larger RV’s the entrance from Mentone may be a better access path. Note that the road can be narrow and steep at points. Elevation climb to the campground is approximately 5,000 feet. Big rigs can access this area however, it is challenging for the vehicle. Make sure your brakes and tires are in excellent condition.

Note: Use caution when entering or leaving the campground. Highway-38 winds past the campground and visibility down the highway is limited.

San Gorgonio Campground. The campground is located in a peaceful and mountainous section of the San Bernardino National Forest. The primary activity from the campground is hiking and wildlife viewing. Big rigs can be accommodated in some camp spots. Campbase recommends RV’s no larger than 35 feet however, some spots are 55 feet long. Picnic tables fire rings, bear boxes and drinking water is available. The restrooms also have showers. Campground roads are all paved and most Camp spots have large pine shade trees. It’s a great spot for a peaceful weekend. A RV dump station is available approximately one mile to the west at Barton Flats Campground. RV hookups are not available at the campground. Dry camping only. Firewood is available from the campground host. There are no additional services available within 20 miles of the campground so, bring everything you will need with you. There are bears and poisonous snakes in the area, use the appropriate precautions. Reservations are recommended. Camp spots that are not reserved are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Three pull-a-round RV camp spots are available. 50 additional camp spots are all back-in spots.
The campground is seasonal being open from 4/29 through 9/23.
