Montana, Rising Sun Campground, Glacier National Park

Directions:

The campground is located on the Going To The Sun Road near the Eastern entrance and visitors center.  Its also along Saint Mary Lake.  From the small town of St. Mary, take Going To The Sun Road Westbound into the park.  After you pass through the entrance, travel approximately 5 miles along Going To The Sun Road and the campground sign will be on the right side.

Rising Sun Campground in Glacier National Park is a First-come, First-server campground with 84 RV or tent camp spots.  The campground opens in early June and closes in early September after Labor Day.  RV's up to 21 feet are allowed.  That includes truck and trailer.  Basically a small trailer or an 21 foot van can be accommodated.  Its not the most popular campground in the park but, its a good option if you arrive without reservations.  There is no cell service from this remote location.  There are bears in the campground and bear boxes are provided.  Saint Marys Lake is across the highway from the campground, no direct access.  Most spots are shaded with crushed rock parking pads.  Picnic tables and fire fings are provided.  There is a small camp store located nearby.  Showers are also available near the camp store but not in the campground.
