Comment

Old Quarry Campground is seasonal with a bunkhouse, RV spots, Tenting, and group sites.  This is primarily a tenting campground with 13 camp spots, just two RV camp spots are available.   RV's up to 36 feet can be accommodated.  Most camp spots have a tent platform.  The campground has a small camp store with firewood and Ice available.   Water/Ocean access is available with a small boat launch and dock available.   It's very much a kayakers paradise.  Restrooms, Showers, and a laundry are available.  There is also a small restaurant with "take out food".  The campground reservation office is an "adventure center" with kayak tours, boat trips, Sailing lessons, Sailing charters, and boat rentals.  Some of the camp spots are walk-in without vehicle access.  Camp roads and parking pads are all crushed rock.  A small boat launch is available.

Depending on the time of year, many areas in Maine may have ticksbees, and mosquitos.  Due to the potential problems posed by these insects it's best to arrive prepared should these insects become a nuisance.  Campbase recommends screen enclosuresrepellantsbug zappers, and mesh net hats.  Please click these links to see our recommended items.

Local Recreation:

Kayaking tours can be arranged from the campgrounds office to the local islands.  Advanced tours and arrangements are available.

Downtown Stonington is just two short miles from the campground.  It's a small fishing village with several seafood restaurants.  It's classic down east Maine.

Take the car, hike, or bike through the Acadia National Park and see all the wonderful sights.  Photography is very popular in this area.  You almost can't take a bad picture.  The highway past the campground turns to a one-way road and is very popular with cyclist.
