Directions:

The campground is located at the intersection of highway 76 and the S6 highway at the bottom of Mount Palomar on the south side.  Highway 76 is also called Pala Road.  Highway S6 is known as S Grade Road.

Oak Knoll campground is located approximately six miles from the Mount Palomar Observatory at the base of the mountain on the S6.  On top of Mount Palomar you will find a nice general store and restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner.  Highway S6 to the top of Mount Palomar is very winding and popular with motorcycle riders that ride very fast.  Road touring is very popular in this area.

The night sky is excellent for star gazing.
