The campground is in a good location for visiting the San Diego area.  It's  located on Mission Bay and has access to the bay.  It's actually "big city" camping so all the amenities are available right outside the park entrance.  Campbase thoroughly enjoyed their time in this campground on mission bay.  There are so many things to do in San Diego it's difficult to decide what to do first.  There are numerous spots that rent bikes, boats, jet skis, sail boats and more.  There is the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park to name a few.  Look at the adds to the right of this page for more ideas.

The park has a security gard and the guards were very helpful.  The park has paved roads and concrete parking pads.  There are trees between most camp spots.   Some of the camp sites are actually on Mission Bay.  The campground has a small boat launch ramp and a beach on the bay.  Picnic tables are provided however, there are no barbeques.  Fire rings are allowed but must be requested before 4:00 P.M.  The front office will bring the fire ring to your camp spot.  Fire rings are $5 per night.  Ice is available at the front office and at the Snack Shack.  The Wifi was a bit slow but did work correctly.  A security password is required to access the network.  Cable TV was available.  Several Air channels were also available in this area.

Bring your bikes to this campground.  There is a bike trail that goes completely around Mission Bay on mostly paved trailers and it's a nice way to see the area and bay.  Take the trail over to Mission Beach or Pacific Beach where there are numerous restaurants.  Campbase recommends the Wavehouse where you will be able or ride a man made wave.  Please see the photo tab for a picture of this.

There is another great trail in San Diego Bay.  It's a 24-mile bicycle route called the Bayshore Bikeway.

The Snack Shack located at the entrance to the campground served breakfast and lunch.  Campbase found the food to be excellent. They close during the winter months around 4 P.M.  Say hi to Pam, she was really friendly.

The daily camping rate for this campground was $50 and even less for police, fire or the military.  In comparison to all the other campgrounds in San Diego, Campbase found this to be an excellent deal.

There is an online reservation service that works very well.

Dogs are allowed however, Pit Bulls are not allowed.

Tent camping is not available at this location.

On the PHOTOS tab at the top of this page see the pictures of the campground followed by pictures of some sites in the area.
