Description

California, Kaspian Campground, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. 

Direction:

The campground is located 4 miles south of Tahoe City, on California Highway 89.  Take a right onto Baker Pass Road and a quick  right into the campground.  The campground is located near the intersection of Hwy 89 & Baker Pass Road.  The campground does not have an address however, the Campbase map is accurate for the location of the campground.  

Comment

Kaspian Campground is located in a natural pine forest near the shore of West Lake Tahoe.  The campground is seasional being open from May through October.  This campground has just 9 tent only, walk-in camp spots.  A large parking lot is available to park cars.  The campground is located across highway 89 from Lake Tahoe.  Most camp spots do have a lake view.  Please see the PHOTOS tab.  The campground does not have direct lake access.  Reservations can be made at www.recreation.gov.  Pets are allowed however, the animals in the area do carry plaigue.  It might be best to leave the pets home for this one.  Bears do frequent the area and all food should be stored in bear boxes.  There is a camp host and all campers must register with the host.  There are no services in the area near the campground on highway-89.  The closest services are in Tahoe City to the north.  The campground elevation is 6,200 feet.  

Local Recreation:

There is river rafting on the Truckee River north of the campground.

Road biking on Highway-89 is popular.  There are also paved bike paths in some areas.

Boating and fishing on Lake Tahoe.  Lake tours are also available.
