Montana de Oro State Park is open all year with 50 RV and tent camp spots.  Three horse camp spots are available.  Largest RV's size is 27 feet.  Also, the road to the campground is paved but not well suit for RV's over 27 feet.  

Montana de Oro State Park features over 8,000 acres of rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills - with 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. Naturalists and backpackers enjoy the solitude and freedom found along the park trails. There are also mountain biking and equestrian trails.  The best-known beach is Spooner's Cove, across from the campground. The park's name, "Mountain of Gold," comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring. Wildlife in the park includes black tailed deer and the black oyster catcher. The park includes primitive and equestrian campsites.  

Spooners Ranch House is located at the entrance to the campground.  There are a few items there available for purchase however, there is no ice or firewood.  Near the campground entrance can also be found Holloway Garden.

The campground is located in a remote area without services.  Bring everything you need with you.  The closest Markets and fuel are approximately 5 miles away in Los Osos.

The beach and tide pools is located just one block from the campground, there's lots to explore.

Hiking is popular in this area.

Horseback riding is popular with numerous trails and horse facilities.
