Description

Montana, Hilltop Campground, US Forest Service, is a large site covering nearly 50 acres about an hour from Ennis.

Direction:

The campground is about 37 miles south of Ennis on Highway 287. Turn west at the Cliff and Wade Lakes sign on Highway 287, then take Forest Road 241 west for 5 miles to the campground.

Comment

Hilltop Campground is located between Walden and Cliff Lakes.  Reservations are not available.  Camping is first-come, first-served.  RV and tent camp spots are available at this location.  Located at 6,500 feet.  Closed during the winter.  Access to the campground is via dirt roads.  The dirt access road is approximately 5 miles long from the main highway.  All Camp spots have shade trees.  There is no cellular services at the campground.  This is a remote location.  Just 13 camp spots are available.  Camp roads and parking pads are all dirt.
