Comment

When Campbase visited Yellowstone National Park in mid June, Grant Village campground was not open.  The campground is seasonal.  Check the opening date before you visit this campground.  This is a good spot if you plan to launch a boat.  A boat launch is available at this location.

The campground is in a good location for visiting the south side of Yellowstone.  It's located on Yellowstone Lake and is close to the West Thumb Geyser Basin.  Old Faithful is located just 20 miles away.  The village has a lodge, store, shops, gas, and information center.  Please see the photos tab for pictures of these items.

425 Total Sites at this campground.

Permits are required for all boats.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON CELL AND DATA SERVICE:

Cell service is sporadic at best.  In most parts of the park there is no phone service no matter how good your carrier is.  For cell service you will need to visit one of the lodges or villages.  Most campgrounds have no service.

Cellular DATA:  Same story, no Internet/data service.  Even if you can get service at a lodge or village it's still painfully slow.  The best thing to do is to go to Old Faithful Village or Canyon Village and find the Global Gossip Hot Spot.  It will be in a sitting room.  They have a very fast Internet connection for about $5 per hour.  It was worth the price.  The phone number for them is (877) 658-5597

Bring your mosquito repellant.  Mosquitos were plentiful during my visit in June 2013.

Camping and lodging reservations can be made at   www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com. The only reservable campgrounds in Yellowstone are Madison Campground, Grant Village Campground, Canyon Campground, Bay Bridge Campground, and Fishing Bridge Campground.
