Forest Ridge Campground is seasonal being open from May 1st through October 31st.  The campground has 60 RV and tent camp sites.  A cabin is also available.  This is a family run campground and we found them quite friendly.  Camp roads are all crushed rock.  Camping pads are crushed rock.  Restrooms, showers, laundry and a dump station are available at the campground.  There is also an above ground pool and playground.  Monthly camping rates are available.  The campground is in a good general location for seeing all the attractions in the area.

Local Recreation:

The Down East Sunrise Trail ends in Ellsworth near the campground.  It's a multi-use trail for hiking, biking, and off-roading.  Get your mountain bike and ride.  It's 95 miles through an amazing wilderness.

The Cole Transportation Museum is near Bangor, Maine and has all kinds of classic heavy vehicles.  It's quite interesting to see the unique vehicles.

Old Downtown Ellsworth is just a mile from the campground.  It's a great spot for breakfast or to walk around the shops.  Campbase recommends the Riverside Cafe for breakfast and lunch only, they close at 3:00p.m.  Try the fresh apple juice.  For dinner there is Finn's Irish Pub on Main Street, downtown.  It's a popular place for good reason.

Bar Harbor is approximately 15 miles from the resort but, it's a great way to spend the day walking through shops and eating at restaurants.  It's a bit touristy but also great fun.  In Bar Harbor you can rent a bike and ride the national parks carriage trails.  Quite fun actually.

Acadia National Park is just 15 miles to the southeast of the campground.  Road touring is popular in Acadia.  There is also an extensive network of carriage trails used for biking and hiking.  Photography is popular with all the nature views in the park.  Please click here for our Acadia National Park page.
