Description
Wyoming, Fishing Bridge, Yellowstone National Park.
Enter from the south entrance and travel approximately 60 miles north to the campground. When you reach West Thumb take a right turn and run north along Yellowstone Lake. Past Bridge Bay marina take the right turn to Fishing Bridge and toward the East exit. It will be on the left side about a mile past the Visitors center.
These directions can be confusing, so look it up before you depart. NOTE: The campground does not have an address therefore, the map pin displayed on the Campbase map page is accurate.
Comment
This campground is for "hard sided" campers only. This is a large RV campground with full hookups. Cable TV was not available and cell service was limited. The upper campground has been completely redone with new roads, parking pads and hookups. Its a very nice area that can accommodate very large RV's. Campbase estimates that RV's up to 45 feet can be accommodsted. However, large RV's will have some difficulty navigating National Park highways. Campground loops A and B have more shade trees. The other loops are new and do not have much shade. The campground roads are paved. Some RV parking pads are crushed rock others are paved. There is a grocery store, gas station and ice machine right outside the entrance to the campground. There are NO picnic tables or fire rings. Fires are not permitted. There are lots of bears in the area so use caution.
Its a great campground because it has full hookups however, the location is not very central to the rest of the park. A better central location would be Canyon Campground. However, Canyon Campground is dry camping. It's a bit of a trade off .
I rode my bike from Fishing Bridge to Lake Village and there was a bike lane the entire way but, the rest of the park is NOT bicycle friendly. Campbase does not recommend road bicycling in the park.
The Mosquitos were thick in the evenng and they drove everyone inside. However, it really depends on the time of year when you visit if there are mosquitos.
