Echo Bay Upper Campground, Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The campground is open all year with 138 RV and tent camp spots. It's located approximately one mile from the Echo Bay marina and Lake Mead. The campground does not have showers, WIFi, or RV hookups. This is dry camping. Some shade spots are available. The campground does not have direct lake access or a lake view. Campbase estimates that big rigs up to approximately 30 feet(estimated) can be accommodated. For larger rigs, Campbase recommends the Echo Bay RV Village across the highway from this location. There are some services and fuel located in Echo Bay however, this is a remote area and there are no services outside of the camping area. Please note, there are three campgrounds in the Echo Bay Area. There is also an upper and lower Echo Bay Campground. Lower Echo Bay Campground is closer to the marina, market, fuel and Lake Mead. Reservations are not available. This is a first-come, first-served campground. If you get there first, you get the camp spot.
Local Recreation:
There are so many things to do in the Lake Mead's National Recreation Area that it's actually to much to mention here. But, a few fun things are:
Hoover Dam. There is a Dam tour and an information center for visitors with some souvenirs to purchase.
Bike ride or hike the paved River Mountains Loop Trail. It's a circular 35 mile trail that loops through the recreation area passing through Boulder Beach. It's a good one, make sure you bring the bike. It's accessible from the Boulder Beach Campground or the Alan Bible Visitors Center.
Most marinas in the recreation area on Lake Mead have boat rentals. Fishing boats and jet skis are usually available. Fishing boats rent for approximately $40 per hour and are a great way to get out onto the lake.
There is casino gaming near the recreation area in Boulder City and Las Vegas. Closer to the park is the Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino. It's located just a mile outside the Boulder Beach entrance. The casino also has a helicopter landing pad with tours of the Grand Canyon available.
