Washington, Cougar Rock Campground

Cougar Rock Campground is located 14 miles east of Ashford, Washington, on State Route 706/Paradise Road.  The campground is located on the road to the Paradise Visitors Center.  A reservation is required to enter this area during certain times of day.

Cougar Rock Campground, on the southeast side of Mt. Rainier National Park, is convenient to the Paradise area. Paradise is the most popular destination in the park, with a lodge, visitor center, and many miles of hiking trails.  A camp site permit will substitute for a "timed entry reservation" when entering this area.  Cougar Rock Campground has the only dump station available on the east side of the park.  The dump station was not open during the Campbase visit and it was uncertain when it would reopen so, plan accordingly.  There are 179 RV and tent camp spots available at Cougar Rock.  Smaller RV's are recommended primarilly due to access roads.  However, RV's up to 35 feet and trailers up to 27 feet can be accommodated in the campground.  Cougar Rock Campground has both reservable and first-come, first-served camp sites.  However, reservations are recommended.  Reservations can be made on www.recreation.gov.  The campground is located at 3,180 ft.
