Local Recreation:
Fishing, boating, swimming, and kayaking on Branch Lake is available from this waterfront campground. The lake has crystal clear waters. Use caution with power boats on this lake. There are numerous hidden boulders just under the water line. Become familiar with the lake before going fast over unfamiliar waters. There are surface holders even in the middle of the lake.
Bar Harbor is located just 17 miles south of the campground on Route 1A. Bar Harbor has numerous shops, restaurants, and services available in the downtown area. T-shirts and souvenirs can be found on every corner.
Acadia National Park is located just 15 miles from the campground on Highway-1A. Acadia has beautiful scenery and extensive carriage trails for biking through the park. A mountain bike is recommended.
Fort Knox is located approximately 40 miles from the campground. Located on the Penobscot River it's a must see maine sight. The entrance fee is around $5 per person. The Penobscot Narrows Bridge is also located there. Visitors can take an elevator to the top of the bridge for some fantastic views.
The Hollywood Casino is nearby in downtown Bangor with easy access from Highway-395. The casino is right on the Penobscot River where there is also a river walk. A great spot for some entertainment really.
