Bernardo Shores RV Park

South bound from San Diego on Interstate 5 exit at Palm Avenue (also called Highway 75) and proceed west toward Imperial Beach.  Stay in the right land and after two miles transition to Silver Strand Blvd.  The campground will be on the right.

Comment

The campground is gated with 124 spaces available.  There is also a security patrol.  All the sites are wide with hedges for privacy.    There are no large shade trees but there is usually a cool beach breeze.  The campground is on the bay not the ocean.  It's just a few blocks from downtown Imperial Beach and the Imperial Beach Pier.  No wood burning at this park.  Tent sites are not available at this location.  Pets are allowed, with some restrictions.

There is a buss stop at the parks entrance.

ACTIVITIES:

There are numerous things to do in the area of the campground including the Silver Strand State Beach, Imperial Beach Pier, and downtown Coronado.  Across the Coronado Bridge is downtown San Diego and the marina area.  There are literally hundreds of restaurants in this area.  All within a short distance from the campground.

Passing the campground and running through the San Diego Bay is a 24-mile bicycle route called the Bayshore Bikeway. It's a paved, bike trail on the east side of highway 75.  The trail goes up the strand between Imperial Beach and Coronado Island.  The other end of the trail goes to downtown San Diego.   It doesn't  completely circle the bay, it's more U shaped.  It's very nice and safe for a family bike ride.  There is a bike under pass tunnel at the Silver Strand State Beach so there is no need to cross highway 75 to get to the beach.
