Description

Maine, Bar Harbor Woodlands KOA is located near Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island.  The campsites are in a lush wooded forest.

Directions:

On Mount Desert Island near Acadia National Park. Follow Rt 1A to Ellsworth and Rt 3 toward Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. Crossing onto the island, bear right onto Rt 102. Go 1.5 mile, Bar Harbor/Woodlands KOA on left. It is 1.5 miles past Bar Harbor/Oceanside KOA.
 

Comment

Bar Harbor Woodlands KOA has cabins, RV sites and tent sites.  The campground has approximately 105 camp spots.
 
Maximum RV length is 40 feet.
 
The Island Explorer bus stops at the campground.  Riding the Island Explorer bus is one of the best way to see Acadia National Park and points beyond.  There are eight bus routes with numerous clean propane buses taking riders to most destinations in the park.  The buses stop at campgrounds, motels, and villages.  Buy a National Park pass and the bus is free.  Each bus can also carry three bikes.  It's a great way to get around.  Pick up a shuttle map at the parks information center where you can also leave your car.  Busses operate from June 23 through August 31 with a limited schedule extending until October 14, 2014.  Times may change annually.
 
While staying at this campground make sure you tour Acadia National Park and also visit Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain, and Southwest Harbor.  Each location has something of interest for everyone.
 
For a great senic drive take the Park Loop Highway.  It's a circular drive that visits most of Acadias points of interest.
