Comment

Balsam Cove Campground is open May 15 through September 28 and is located on Toddy Pond.  The campground has cabins, tenting, and RV camp spots.  Most camp spots are level and have shade trees.  Some spots are on the water.  Big rigs up to 45 feet can be accommodated.  This is a large campground with 124 camp spots available.  The camp spots that are away from the water are large with plenty of space.  The campground is set in a forest natural setting with tall pine shade trees.  There is a grassy area along the beach for picnicking and relaxing.  A boat ramp and boat dock are also located at the campground.  There is a campground swin area where the water is often as warm as bath water during the summer months.  Camp roads and parking pads are crushed rock.  A limited number of concrete pads are available.

Its a great campground for everyone but, especially for people who fish and boat.  Boats smaller than 20 feet are recommended.

Local Recreation:

While staying at Balsam Cove Campground, the best way to spend your day is swimming, fishing, boating or kayaking.  Toddy Pond, located at the campground, is a clean unspoiled Maine lake.  It's a large lake and will take a while to explore.

Road touring is very popular everywhere in Maine.  Highway 1 winds through many of Maine's small fishing villages.  You can also visit Deer Isle and Stonington, near the campground, to see some of Maine's best views.

For a bit longer drive, there is Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.  The two are located approximately 30 miles from this campground.  Acadia National Park has some of Maine's most bueatiful scenery.  Bring your best camera.

Looking for a place to eat?  For breakfast, Campbase recommends the Riverside Cafe on Main Street in downtown Ellsworth.  The restaurant serves primarily breakfast and lunch, they close at 3 P.M.  Also in downtown Ellsworth is an Irish bar and restaurant called Finn's.  It's super popular with the locals and usually crowded.  Try the sheperds pie, I liked it.
