Montana, Apgar Campground in Glacier National Park

Direction:
Located 1 mile northeast of the west entrance near West Glacier, Montana. Access is from U.S. Highway 2, approximately 32 miles northeast of Kalispell, Montana.  From the small town of West Glacier take Galcier Route 1 Road( also called Going to the Sun Road).  Take Route 1 about 1/2 mile into the parks entrance station.  Just after the entrance take a right turn at the stop sign, its in approximately half a mile.  Continue on Route 1 for less than one mile and Apgar Loop Road(May also be called Lake View Drive) will be on the left side.  Go left and proceed another half mile and the parks entrance will be on the left side.

Apgar Campground is situated on the southern tip of Lake McDonald in beautiful Glacier National Park in northwestern Montana. Pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains and spectacular lakes are found throughout the park.  The campground is located just a short walk from the lake.  Most spots are shaded.  Campground roads are all paved, parking pads are crushed rock.  Some spots are large pill-a-round sites.  This is an active bear area and bear boxes for food storage is provided.  The campground is located within walking distance from Apgar Village where you will find an inn, restaurants, and ice cream shop.  Apgar Campground is arguably the best campground in Glacier National Park.  Its a great base camp for drives on
