Description

Washington, Alder Thicket Campground, Umatilla National Forest.

Direction:

Take 15th St. south out of Pomeroy for approximately 16 miles to forest boundary, where pavement ends. Continue on Rd. #40 for approximately 3 miles, campground is on the right hand side of road.

Alder Thicket Campground has only 5 camp spots. Open seasonally.

This campground is just off of Rd. #40, which is the gateway to the Blue Mountains. It provides plenty of shade on hot summer days, with hiking trails behind the campground. The campground had Tent and trailer camping. Fee charged for some activities,Picnic tables,Toilets,Drinking water,Parking.

This campground is accessible from May thru November, depending on weather conditions. Road #40 is closed at Rose Spring snow park from December 1 thru March 31 for snowmobile trails, and grooming. The campground is not actually available for camping in the winter, it's used more for a rest stop for snowmobilers.
