Rim Campground, McArthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park.  The campgrounds in the park are Rim Camp and Pioneer Camp.  They are located next to each other.  The campgrounds have cabins, tenting, and RV camp spots.  Hike/bike camp spots are also available.  RV's up to 32 feet can be accommodated.  A limited number of pull through camp spots are available.  Burney Falls and Lake Britton are located near the campground within the state park.  Most camp spots have tall pine trees for shade.  The Rim Campground is closer to the rim of the falls, hence the name.  Spots here are difficult to obtain.  Campbase recommends you make reservations early for the prime summer season.

The nearest services outside the park are in the small town of Burney located approximately 10 miles to the southwest.  Burney has fuel, markets, and restaurants available.  Burney has the typical small town shops making it worth a visit to see the place.

This campground does have mosquitoes.  Depending on the time of year, they can be quite a nuisance.  Campbase recommends a mosquito mesh hatinsect repellent, and a mosquito net awning to sit in.  If mosquitoes bother you, these items are essential for this location.

McArthur Burney Falls State Park experiences very high visitation beginning in April and continuing through October.  On holidays and all summer weekends, the park will fill to capacity and the entrance will be closed.  Please note that if you park along Highway 89 outside of the park, your vehicle may be subject to citation and tow.  If you arrive to find the entrance closed, please return at a later time, typically after 4:00pm.  Plan your visit accordingly.

Local Recreation:

The park has some of California's best waterfalls.  They are easily accessible from the campground on well maintained walking paths.  Walking paths completely circle the falls with bridges that allow hikers to access both sides of the river.  The falls plunge approximately 129 feet into deep blue pools.  Please see our photos tab for some pictures.

Lake Britton is located inside the park just a mile from the campground.  The park has a launch ramp, boat docks, and a swim beach.  Water temperatures are usually perfect during the summer months.  Campbase recommends boats no larger than 20 feet.  It's also a perfect lake for kayaking.  Make sure to bring some kind of float toy with you.  Here are a few examples from Amazon.
